O2 Educational Initiative
As part of our commitment to making a positive local impact in each community where we develop a solar project, we have created the O2 Educational Initiative. We to work with K-12 public school systems and community colleges to increase knowledge of renewable energy technology and to develop skills to advance in this growing industry.
K-12 Public Schools
We partner with K-12 public school systems in each county where we develop a solar project to develop a SiSTEM (Solar in STEM) Program. We work with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) teachers to integrate solar into their existing curriculum. We help provide participating school systems with classroom resources, teacher training and opportunities for field trips to O2 solar farms.
O2 emc also works with community colleges in each of our project counties to help interested students advance their careers in the growing solar industry. We work with faculty to hold job fairs and identify students and recent graduates in the community that are interested in working on a solar farm. We have worked with community colleges to develop workforce training courses that educate local workers on the best industry practices from the most experienced solar installers and system inspectors in the country. Participants who complete the training may take the NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) Entry Level Exam exam to receive basic NABCEP entry-level certification.
